In June of 1983, a 15-year-old girl in Vatican City, Italy went missing after walking home from a flute lesson in town. Soon after her disappearance, disturbing calls started to come into her family’s phone line claiming that she was being held for ransom by an organized crime group, that the Vatican and Pope themselves were involved in her disappearance, or that she was alive and living outside of Italy. With the countless tips and theories leading to various angles, the case quickly became one of the most well-known mysteries across the country. This is the story of Emanuela Orlandi.
