Maria James

In 1980, Maria James was found murdered in her residence. 38-year-old Maria owned a bookshop in Thornbury, and she lived at the rear of the shop with her two sons. Maria was on the phone with her ex-husband when, suddenly, the call went silent. He rushed over to find her dead.

The police investigation into Maria’s murder has been heavily scrutinized over the years. Persons of interest were cleared with what turned out to be evidence from a completely different case. It also later emerged that one of Maria’s sons told her that he was molested by two priests at the church across from their home. Witnesses saw someone running from the crime scene, and there were a number of persons of interest over the years, so why has this case never been solved?
