LAKE SUPERIOR, MICHIGAN | I researched and wrote this episode, about the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald which occurred on November 10, 1975, when the freighter sank during a strong storm. The tragedy became one of the most infamous in modern maritime history.
This incident was immortalized in song. ‘The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald’ was written, composed and performed by Gordon Lightfoot.
The wreck is also taught in some grade school Michigan history classes.
