In mid-1994, the bodies of married couple Robin and Margaret Bain, and three of their four children, were discovered in their home in the city of Dunedin on the South Island of New Zealand. They had all been shot to death. The only person to survive was the Bain’s family oldest son David, who police quickly focused on as one of the main suspects. 22-year-old David told police he wasn’t home when the murders occurred. David, who arrived home to find his entire family slain, was adamant his father was the killer, claiming Robin had gunned down the family and then taken his own life.
