Bible John

GLASGOW, UNITED KINGDOM | I researched and wrote this episode, which takes place during 1968 and 1969, when Patricia Docker, Jemima McDonald, and Helen Puttock were murdered in the Scottish industrial city. They were all in their mid-20s to early 30s and had gone out for a night of dancing and socializing before being murdered. The murder suspect became known as Bible John.

The murders of all three women shared many similarities. Helen Puttock’s sister Jean shared a cab with her sister and the man who would later kill Helen. She shared a description with the police along with the fact that this man quoted the Old Testament which led to the media calling the killer ‘Bible John’.
